Scleral Lens Fitting

Scleral lenses are a premium contact lens option crafted for complex visual needs. Rather than resting on the cornea like regular lenses, these lenses land on the sclera (the white part of the eye) and create a tear-filled vault over the cornea. This design smooths out irregular surfaces, stabilizes the tear film, and offers enhanced comfort.

At Knight Vision NW, Dr. Knighton offers bespoke fitting of scleral lenses for patients whose vision remains problematic with standard glasses or contacts. Whether you have conditions like keratoconus, post-surgical corneal changes, significant dry eye, or other irregular corneal shapes, these lenses provide an effective non-surgical route to better visual performance. Studies show marked improvements in both visual acuity and comfort for these patients.

During your fitting visit, we’ll assess your eye surface and shape using topography and other imaging, discuss your lifestyle and goals, and tailor the scleral lens parameters accordingly. The process includes trial lenses, adjustments, and follow-up care to ensure optimal fit, health, and wear time.
