Glasses Verification & Prescription Check Policy

When receiving new glasses, your eyes and brain often require an adaptation period. We recommend wearing your new glasses for a few hours at a time on multiple occasions where it is safe to adjust to any changes in your prescription. If you are still experiencing vision issues or discomfort after this adaptation period, please review our process below regarding how we troubleshoot and resolve these concerns.

 

1. Glasses Purchased Elsewhere

If your glasses were manufactured by an outside vendor or online lab, you must first return to that seller to have them verify that the physical lenses match the written prescription on file.

• If the lenses do not match the prescription: The outside provider must remake or correct the fabrication error. Knight Vision Northwest cannot perform free remakes or supply replacement parts for third-party eyewear.

• If the outside provider confirms the lenses match the prescription: Once verified, you may schedule an Optical Encounter our opticians for further evaluation.

 

2. Glasses Made by Knight Vision Northwest

If your glasses were purchased through our clinic, please contact us directly to schedule an Optical Encounter with our optician.

 

3. Triage & Doctor Rx Checks

To find the root cause of any vision issue, our clinic follows a step-by-step triage process:

• Step 1 – Optician Encounter: Our optician will perform a thorough assessment of your glasses, including lens power neutralization, alignment, frame fit, and optical center measurements.

• Step 2 – Doctor Rx Check (If Needed): If our optician verifies that the glasses were manufactured accurately to the prescription and has exhausted all optical adjustments, an Rx Check with the Doctor will be scheduled.

 

4. Fees & Billing Requirements

Doctor Rx Checks are subject to the following billing policies based on the date of your original exam and finalized prescription:

• Within 90 Days of Original Exam: There is no charge for an Rx Check appointment with the doctor.

• Past 90 Days of Original Exam: The appointment will be billed as either a refraction fee or through medical insurance, depending on the reason for the prescription change.
